HOW IT WORKS

Simple from the beginning.

01

Tell us the question

Explain what is happening, what you already know, and what you need to learn, verify, or document.

02

We define the scope

We evaluate the objective, available information, likely fieldwork, research needs, and reporting requirements.

03

You approve one price

You receive a clear engagement price before work begins. Nothing moves forward without your authorization.

WHY FLAT RATE?

The hourly quote is not always the final bill.

Hourly billing can make the final cost difficult to predict. Travel, mileage, reporting, research, evidence preparation, and administrative work may be billed in addition to investigative time.

ILLUSTRATIVE HOURLY EXAMPLE ONLY — THESE FIGURES ARE NOT CVI PRICES, ESTIMATES, OR QUOTES.
TRADITIONAL HOURLY EXAMPLE

The opening rate may not show the total.

Illustrative advertised range The hourly quote may only cover investigative time.
$75–$125/hr
8 hours of surveillance Example calculated at $100 per hour $800
Travel time Two additional billable hours +$200
Mileage and tolls Added outside the hourly quote +$100
Report and evidence preparation Writing, video review and evidence organization +$200
Research and administrative costs Database access and case administration +$200
Final example bill After additional time and expenses
$1,500

Investigators structure their billing differently. This example shows how an attractive hourly quote may not represent the complete cost of the investigation.

AS APPROVED

Your written scope identifies the authorized work, included services, expected deliverables, and engagement price before work begins.

BUILT AROUND THE OBJECTIVE

You are not paying us merely to watch a clock.

Investigations rarely unfold exactly as expected. A subject may change locations, alter a routine, remain inside, or fail to appear.

When appropriate, the approved engagement can combine fieldwork, research, verification, documentation, and reporting to keep the investigation moving toward the agreed objective.

Your engagement may include:

Investigative planning
Surveillance and fieldwork
Routine local travel
Research and verification
Photo and video documentation
Evidence organization
Written reporting
Secure evidence delivery

The exact combination depends on the objective and approved scope.

THE QUESTION THAT SIZES THE CASE
“Are we hoping to find something—or document a pattern?”

A focused objective

May involve a known location, confirmed vehicle, specific date, reliable schedule, or one narrow investigative question.

A documented pattern

May require multiple dates, broader research, an unknown schedule, several locations, or repeated observations over time.

WHEN THE SCOPE CHANGES

No silent additions.

Minor changes

If the investigation changes direction but remains within the approved scope, CVI adjusts the strategy without turning every small development into a new charge.

Material changes

If the matter expands to additional subjects, dates, distant travel, court appearances, or work outside the original scope, we discuss it with you before proceeding.

i

A flat rate is not a guaranteed outcome.

No ethical investigator can promise what surveillance or research will reveal. A flat rate means the authorized work, financial scope, and expected deliverables are clearly defined before the investigation begins.

START WITH THE QUESTION

You do not need to know how much investigation your case requires.

Tell us what you know and what you need to determine. We will recommend a clear scope and provide a private engagement quote.
